Can USILACS education documents be authenticated for international use?

Yes. USILACS can prepare eligible education documents for international use through either State Apostille services or Complete Foreign Legalization, depending on the requirements of the destination country.

After your request is approved by the USILACS Registrar’s Office, the Document Department prepares your education documents and submits them to the appropriate government offices for processing.

For State Apostille requests, documents are submitted to the Florida Secretary of State. Once the apostilled documents are returned to USILACS, they are scanned, emailed to the student, and the original apostilled documents are shipped to the student.

For Complete Foreign Legalization requests, documents proceed through several additional government processing stages, including the Florida Secretary of State, the U.S. Department of State Office of Authentications, and the appropriate embassy or consulate. After each major processing stage, updated scanned copies are emailed to the student. Once the legalization process is complete, the original legalized documents are shipped to the student.

Important: State Apostille requests normally require approximately 45 days, and Complete Foreign Legalization requests normally require approximately 90 days. These timelines may vary depending on government processing volume, holidays, shipping transit times, and the requirements of the destination country.

Expedited Processing: Expedited processing is not available for State Apostille or Complete Foreign Legalization requests. Once your documents leave USILACS, processing is controlled by outside government agencies, including the Florida Secretary of State, the U.S. Department of State, and, when required, the destination country’s embassy or consulate. Because these agencies control their own processing times, USILACS cannot accelerate, expedite, or influence government processing at any price.

Students should verify the document authentication requirements of the country where the documents will be used before requesting State Apostille or Complete Foreign Legalization services.
