Students who have completed high school or hold a recognized high school equivalency may enter directly into a USILACS® associate degree. A Career Certificate is not required. Students may earn the associate degree as their chosen credential or continue into a related bachelor’s degree later.

The same rule continues through the USILACS pathway. When a completed USILACS course satisfies a requirement in a later Bachelor’s or Master’s program, that completed course carries forward into the later program.

A student does not pay tuition or the final examination fee again for a USILACS course that has already been completed and carries forward.

How the Associate Path Works

A USILACS® Associate Degree is a 60-credit, 20-course undergraduate program. Previously completed USILACS coursework is applied when the same completed course satisfies a requirement in the selected Associate Degree.

1. Choose

Select the associate degree that fits your goals.

2. Apply Completed Coursework

Any completed USILACS course that also satisfies a requirement in the selected Associate Degree is applied as completed coursework.

3. Complete and Graduate

Complete the remaining coursework required for the 60-credit Associate Degree and graduate.

4. Continue

Continue into a related bachelor’s degree when you are ready. Completed Associate coursework carries forward when the same course satisfies a requirement in the Bachelor’s Degree.

Can I enter directly into a USILACS associate degree?

Yes. Students who have completed high school or hold a recognized high school equivalency may enter directly into a USILACS associate degree. A Career Certificate is not required first.

Can Career Certificate coursework count toward an associate degree?

Does HESEAP apply to associate degree programs?

No. HESEAP® is not used for USILACS associate degree programs. HESEAP applies to eligible bachelor’s degree students.

Do associate degrees have majors or minors?

No. USILACS associate degrees do not use majors or minors. The Associate of Science in Clerical Technical Management offers designated concentrations.

Can I continue from an associate degree into a bachelor’s degree?

Yes. A student may continue from a USILACS associate degree into a related bachelor’s degree. When a completed Associate course also satisfies a requirement in the selected Bachelor’s Degree, that course carries forward. The student does not pay tuition or the final examination fee for that completed course again.

How is associate degree tuition determined?

USILACS uses country-based pricing. If the student has already completed a USILACS course that carries forward into the selected Associate Degree, that completed course is not charged again. Current Associate Degree pricing is available through the Tuition Access Portal.

Program Structure

This degree follows a structured 20-course academic framework designed to provide both a strong general education foundation and focused preparation in digital marketing. Students complete eight core/general education courses followed by twelve degree major courses covering marketing, social media, audience research, content development, analytics, design, artificial intelligence, digital publishing, editing, and multimedia communication.

The Associate of Science in Clerical¹ Technical Management develops a practical foundation in business, management, communication, and technical operations while allowing students to specialize in a selected technical field. Students build essential academic and organizational skills through general education and management coursework before completing focused technical study in HVAC Technology, Electrical Technology, Plumbing Technology, Automotive Technology, or Professional Drafting.

The program combines communication, mathematics, computer science, accounting, management, human resources, and organizational studies with specialized technical coursework. You’ll develop an understanding of how technical work is planned, organized, documented, supervised, and supported within professional environments while gaining focused knowledge in your selected concentration. The degree is designed to connect technical knowledge with the management and operational skills needed to support teams, projects, services, and technical organizations.

Program Structure

This degree follows a structured 20-course academic framework designed to combine a broad academic and management foundation with focused technical preparation. Students complete twelve common core courses totaling 36 semester credits, followed by one eight-course technical concentration totaling 24 semester credits. Each concentration provides specialized coursework related to a specific technical field while maintaining the same overall 60-credit associate degree structure.

Core Courses (12 Courses): Develop communication, writing, mathematics, computer science, public speaking, psychology, science, accounting, management, and human resource skills that provide a broad academic and professional foundation for technical management.

Degree “Concentration”(8 Courses): Students select one of the following technical concentrations—each consisting of eight pre-selected courses—to develop focused knowledge and practical skills in a specialized technical field: HVAC Technology, Electrical Technology, Plumbing Technology, Automotive Technology, or Professional Drafting.

Each technical concentration requires completion of the corresponding USILACS 10-Hour Career Certificate as a prerequisite. This prerequisite is recognized as prior USILACS education and is not included in the 60 semester credits required for the associate degree.
